Mentorship & Outreach

Supporting Future Researchers

As a Southeast Asian woman who has navigated the PhD application process, I understand how confusing and challenging it can feel. I was fortunate to have amazing mentors during my application process, as well as immense support from my partner and family, but I realise not everyone has that kind of support system.

I want to support prospective PhD applicants, especially those who face systemic barriers in academia, i.e., women, LGBTQ+ individuals, first-generation students, those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and students from communities historically underrepresented in STEM. If you’re considering a PhD and/or trying to navigate through the PhD application process, I’d be happy to have a chat and offer support in any way I can. My experience is mostly with CDT (UK) and some US-style applications rather than research proposal-based programs, but I can speak to parts of the process I know and point you towards other resources. Feel free to reach out and send me an email!
